MTB BEGINNER PROGRAM

Youth Program / Age 9-12

Hosted by Sportwheels Team Member & SprocKids Certified instructor Mike Phillips. This 4 week introduction to Mountain Biking program is open to children ages 9-12 years old. This program will cover a variety of skills, through cycling activities and games. Participants will learn descending, climbing, shifting, braking skills as well as how to ride obstacles, and how to properly adjust their bike on the trail. To ensure the best possible experience we have capped the program at 10 spots. Don't delay, sign up today!


WHEN: Thursdays / June 6th, June 13th, June 20th, June 27th (Rain date July 4th)

TIME: Thursdays 6pm to 8pm

WHERE: Our local trail systems in HRM have many hidden mountain bike options. We will be utilizing a variety of ride locations such as: MacDonald Sports Park & Shubie park and McIntosh Run Watershed. A location schedule will follow in confirmation email approx 10 days before the first session.

SHAKE OFF THE DUST

Adult Program / 18+

A mixed level beginner and intermediate course designed to get novice adult riders excited for a new season. This course will cover the basics of trail riding and be a guided ride format with stops to session key technical trail segments. Foundational skills covered will include wheel lifts, roll downs and cornering. It will include a refresher on bike setup and maintenance, body position, mechanical controls and trail following. 

DATES: Tuesdays - April 30th, May 7th, May 14th, (Raid Date May 21st) 
TIME: 6-8 pm. (Please arrive 10 min early to gear up) 
PRICE: $195.66 +hst for all 3 sessions. Each session is 2hrs of coaching. ($225 After Tax)
LOCATION: McIntosh Run / Norawarren Trailhead. Trails will include; Boulderama, Gratitude, Orange Jelly, In & Out, Gutterball, West Pine. >TRAILHEAD MAP

SHRED READY

Teen Program / Age 13-17

A mixed level beginner and intermediate course designed to get younger riders excited for a new season and perhaps even a new sport. This course will cover the basics of trail riding with stops to session key technical trail segments. It will include a refresher on bike setup and maintenance, body position, mechanical controls and trail Following. 

DATES: Wednesdays - May 1st, 8th, 15th, (Rain Date 22nd)
TIME: 6-8 pm (Please arrive 10 min early to gear up)
PRICE: $186.96 +hst for all 3 sessions. Each session is 2hrs of coaching. ($215 After Tax)

MTB Program Information

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR ALL PROGRAMS:
For safety we require all participants to have a Safe Working Mountain Bike, proper fitting Helmet & Riding Gloves. No loose laces or Crocs.

SUGGESTED ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR ALL PROGRAMS:
Knee pads, Gloves, Proper Riding Eyewear, Water Bottle / Hydro Pack, Snacks. The program will go forward with light rain, so please have proper rain gear for riding.
